Michael Bay stated this on his site, "I think I'm going to pursue Frank on Soundwave". According to Bay, Soundwave might be played by Frank Welker in the upcomming movie. Welker has voiced many original G1 Transformers, such as Megatron, Soundwave, Rumble, Frenzy, ratbat, Ravage, Laserbeak, Mirage, season 3 Galvatron etc... It is left up to the induvidual to speculate if this is true or misinformation.
OMG! Soundwave NEEDS to be voiced by Frank Welker! This would be awesome! Soundwave sounded his best performed by Frank Welker, and Soundwave's voice is a huge part of the character. I'm sure he'll sound more alienesque, but perhaps his voice will be somewhat recognizable as G1! Since Frank can't voice Megatron, this would be a perfect role for him in the movie.
